What is Landed Permanent Residence (LPR) ?

First of all, for you who intends to work in Singapore, you need to have a status, unless you work as illegal worker or immigrant.

The status could be:

1. Singaporean (Singapore citizenship)
   This is a local citizen, which would not be appropriate for you, because you are definitely still holding your home country citizenship. So I wouldn't explain on this.
   
   
2. Permanent Residence (PR)
   This is a residence status, you are still holding your own country citizenship, while you are eligible to stay and work in Singapore. PR is equivalent to Singaporean, in terms of job finding, most of job ads put "Singaporean / PR may apply", means they only consider applicants which is Singaporean or PR, and not foreigner. As a PR, you are free to stay in Singapore for long term, without feeling worry about your visa extension.
   
   
3. Working Visa (S-Pass, E-Pass)
   This is the working visa for foreigner. You have to be employed to get this visa. Company MUST sponsor and pay for you! and there is quota limitation for it. That is why most company do not want to hassle with this, and it's much more convenient for them to hire PR / Singaporean. Using this visa, if you resign on your job, your status becomes tourist visa again, which means, you have to find other company to sponsor visa for you, or else you have to leave Singapore in 30days.
